It was an early morning, we were driving from Montreal back to Boston. We left Montreal early so my son could attend a friend´s birthday party back home. This meant leaving the hotel without breakfast. Not a problem. We planned to stop in Burlington, Vermont for a scrumptious, locally sourced meal. Fun fact: the city of Burlington runs 100 % on renewable energy. Another reason to love Burlington!
If you have never been to Vermont, it is a haven for delicious, organic, non-gmo, sustainable, (again) locally sourced food. We were on a bit of a tight schedule, so we wanted something that wasn´t necessarily a restaurant and something that was open at 7:30 a.m. While searching the Web, I found Myer´s Bagels . It had outstanding reviews and was open. Jackpot!
I was initially concerned because we seemed to be driving out of the city before we reached Myer´s Bagels. The last thing I wanted to do was go to some nondescript place in a strip mall. Myer´s Bagels was anything but nondescript. Just from the outside, I knew this place would be good.
The employee at the counter recommended we try the Montreal Spice bagel, which was to die for, really. The flavors were dancing on our tongues. If you don´t believe me, read the reviews! By far the best bagel I have ever had in my life. Our intention was to grab a few bagels for breakfast. Needless to say, we walked out with a baker´s dozen along with regular and maple cream cheeses. The cheeses are fresh and have labels identifying the milk used from the local dairy farm. To top of our breakfast, we got organic coffee to go supplied by Vermont Coffee Company.
I would definitely give Myer´s Bagels a four and a half Om star rating. We will be returning on our next trip through Burlington.
Also worth noting, the owner was super awesome and amazing to our children 🙂 Many thanks!!
