Listening to Our Body’s Needs

Most of us live a busy life with demanding schedules, whether it is work and/or family related. Not only do we care for ourselves, we often care for others. It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day demands or sidetracked by distractions. At times it feels that the days turn into weeks, months, and then years. While we are busy and at times consumed with work, relationships, and schedules, we often lose sight of ourselves.

Zen Nachos

In the mood for something quick, easy, delicious and cost-conscious? Be creative! Nachos not only make a yummy appetizer but an awesome meal! Made even easier if you have leftover taco meat and are wanting to reinvent your meal with nearly all the same ingredients.

Making the Most of St. Patrick´S Day

Yes, St. Patrick´s Day has come and gone but the meals kept coming.

St. Patrick´s Day landed nicely on a Friday this year. Both the kids were in school, which meant that my husband and I could enjoy a lunch out to ourselves. We decided we would head to O´Leary´s in Brookline, MA. We had been there several times previously. My favorite foods to order at O´Leary´s are the Guinness beef stew (the best meal on the menu!!) and the seafood stuffed mushrooms. Sadly, the seafood stuffed mushrooms are no longer on the menu. While those are my go to options, my husband and I opted to share a bowl of soup and fish and chips (Dublin style) since we were having another Irish inspired meal in the evening. As an aside, I love O´Leary´s and give it a four Om star rating.

Visiting the Maryland Athletic Club – Harbor East

My family recently returned from a wonderful visit to Maryland. We were blessed with sunny weather and 70 degrees during our stay. We had the good fortune of staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Baltimore, a suitable place for families in a prime location.

Oven Roasted Bacon Brussels Sprouts

My family recently had bacon brussels sprouts as a side at one of our favorite restaurants. If you haven´t been to Turner´s Seafood in Salem, it is worth going. Do make a reservation though. The bacon brussels sprouts at Turner´s Seafood among nearly anything they serve there were so good that I had to try and replicate them at home. My son even enjoyed them and insisted we get cooking.

Finding Balance in the Trump Era

From my own global zen-infused perspective, Americans should be concerned about creating an inclusive country where we all lift each other up and aim to live peacefully. While this scenario may not seem plausible, especially under this administration, I have chosen to strike a balance between staying informed and not driving myself mad. Honestly, it hasn´t been easy. Just ask my husband.

Guacamole: Easy, Healthy, and Packed With Flavor

On the hunt for an easy, healthy, flavorful snack, possibly in time for the Super Bowl?! Guacamole is a winner all the way around! Who doesn´t love a fresh, healthy dip? In addition to being delicious and the main ingredient in guacamole, avocados provide a number of health benefits.

Making the Trek to Myer´s Bagels

It was an early morning, we were driving from Montreal back to Boston. We left Montreal early so my son could attend a friend´s birthday party back home. This meant leaving the hotel without breakfast. Not a problem. We planned to stop in Burlington, Vermont for a scrumptious, locally sourced meal. Fun fact: the city of Burlington runs 100 % on renewable energy. Another reason to love Burlington!

Quesadilla, anyone?

Want a delicious meal packed with protein?! Making a quesadilla is one of the easiest meals to make. Creativity goes a loooooooong way!

Salivating Burrata and Black Truffle

My family was in Montreal from the end of December to the beginning of January. It was a trip to catch up with dear friends and feast on heavenly food. Our wintry stay consistently served up a number of family friendly activities and delectable cuisines: Iraqi, French, Korean, Lebanese, and Italian. It was a holiday of the senses.

Making Sushi at Home

In the mood for sushi? Don´t want to spend money eating out? Worried about fake, mislabeled fish sold in US sushi restaurants? I know, making sushi sounds daunting and even impossible for some. The good news is that the preparation is not arduous and the end result is mouth watering 🙂

Holiday Meals

Christmas Eve was nearing and my family still had not decided on what meal we would make to celebrate the holiday. In fact, nobody seemed to care as much as me. I like to mark holidays with mouthwatering meals. It was a typical week where we run to various stores and ultimately scan the Whole Foods flyer. Luckily for us, there were many items going on sale the night before Christmas Eve for procrastinators like us 😉
